Our walks and talks programme has resumed for members. Folk Dancing is hoping to restart in Spring 2022.
Get involved with our events
The Gower Society holds over 100 events every year. Both members and non-members are welcome to join us. For full details of our regular events, please see below.
Our Folk Dancing group meets fortnightly on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm in United Church Sketty. For more details, click here.
We organise walks on weekends throughout the year alongside Swansea Ramblers, as well as occasional mid-week walks. For more details of the walks, click here.
Walkers participate at their own risk.
If the weather forecast is inclement please contact Walk Leaders before setting out.
New walkers – please contact Walk Leaders to check if walk is suitable for you.
For Sunday walks, boots, waterproofs and warm wind-proof clothing must be taken, together with sufficient food and drink for the whole day. In the mountains, rough country without recognisable footpaths is often traversed and the going can be difficult.
For Saturday walks, strong shoes/boots should be worn and waterproof clothing should be taken. If on a full day walk, bring a picnic lunch and tea: if a half-day walk, a snack and a drink is recommended. For long walks in the hills the advice for Sunday walks applies.
Weekday walks are at a leisurely pace and a picnic lunch is taken.
Dogs are welcome on walks provided that:
- The leader is willing and the walk is suitable.
- The dog is on a non-extendable lead and controlled by its owner.
The owner is responsible for getting their dog over/under stiles.
For any problems with footpaths, you can contact the Society and also the local authority Rights of Way Officer: email@example.com
Our Winter Talks take place monthly on Friday evenings at 7:30pm in Sketty Parish Centre. These events feature subjects linked to Gower and usually last 60-90 minutes. For more details or to recommend a speaker, click here.
