The Chairman's Statement

Welcome to The Gower Society and to Gower. The Gower Society was set up in 1947 to study the history and natural history of the lordship of Gower and to protect its special characteristics. Gower has a rich history, going back 40,000 years and a diverse and beautiful landscape, from the majestic uplands in the north to the superb Gower peninsula, much of which was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1956.

We want you to enjoy this special place, to learn about it and to appreciate it. And we know that you will come to love it too.

Together we can safeguard everything that is special about it.
