Saturday 19th October. GOWER COAST PATH 1:GOWERTON TO PENCLAWDD

Meet 10:00 am Penclawdd Car Park (SA4 3YQ, SS 5450 9590).  A circular walk from Penclawdd past Blue Anchor and Cefn Goleu before dropping down to Gowerton and the Wales Coast Path.  Following the coast past Cefn Scylle and Bryn-y-Mor to Penclawdd.  Part 1 of a series of 17 walks around the entire Gower section of the Wales Coast Path.  A moderate 6.5 mile walk with approximately 900ft of total ascent, returning by 2:30pm.

Saturday 26th October.  RHOSSILI TO LLANDDEWI
Meet at 10:00 am at Rhossili National Trust Car Park (charge) (GR SS 4143 8806), parking also available at Saint Mary’s Church (honesty box) (GR SS 4168 8805).  A 7 mile moderate walk along the Gower Way to Llanddewi, returning through fields and country lanes.

Saturday 2nd November. GOWER COAST PATH 2: PENCLAWDD TO CROFTY

Meet 10:00 am Penclawdd Car Park (SA4 3YQ, SS 5450 9590).  A circular walk from Penclawdd along the Wales Coast Path to Crofty.  Returning via Llanmorlais and Gelli-Groes. Part 2 of a series of 17 walks around the entire Gower section of the Wales Coast Path.  A moderate 6 mile walk with approximately 650ft of total ascent, returning by 2:00pm.

Sunday 3rd November. SOUTHGATE CIRCULAR
(Joint with Swansea Ramblers)
Meet at 9:30am Southgate: Pennard Cliffs: National Trust car park (charge) (GR SS 554 874) 
Skirt around Southgate across the fields, then around the golf course. Drop to Parkmill, then up to Cefn Bryn. Back through Nicholaston Woods, Three Cliffs Bay and Pennard Burrows. (The walk includes a short section of road walking). N.B. This is a Winter Walk, so don’t forget your torch. You shouldn’t need it, but better safe than sorry! A strenuous 10.5 mile (17km) walk with approximately 1738ft (530m) of total ascent.

Meet 10:00 am in front of St Rhidian and St Illtyd’s Church in Llanrhidian (SA3 1ER, SS 4975 9223).  A circular walk from Llanrhidian to Crofty passing Cilifor Top and Welsh Moor before joining the coast path.  Part 3 of a series of 17 walks around the entire Gower section of the Wales Coast Path.  A moderate 6.5 mile walk with approximately 600ft of total ascent, returning by 2:30pm.

Saturday 14th December. GOWER COAST PATH 4: LLANRHIDIAN TO LANDIMORE
Meet 10:00 am in front of St Rhidian and St Illtyd’s Church in Llanrhidian (SA3 1ER, SS 4975 9223).  A circular walk from Llanrhidian to Landimore passing Weobley Castle and Hambury Wood on the coast path before heading inland and following Bury Pill on the way back to Llanrhidian.  Passing Samson’s Jack standing stone.  Part 4 of a series of 17 walks around the entire Gower section of the Wales Coast Path.  A moderate 6 mile walk with approximately 900ft of total ascent, returning by 2:30pm.

Sunday 15th December. HILLS BEHIND PORT TALBOT
(Joint with Swansea Ramblers)
Meet at 9:00am between Guildhall and Victoria Park (GR SS 643 923) or 9:30am Port Talbot: Car park west of Station Road (GR SS 766 899).
We start with an ascent of Mynydd Dinas to see the views to the west. We then join the high level Coast Path around to Mynydd Brombil (views to the east), returning along the low level Coast Path. A strenuous 11 mile walk with approximately 1200ft (366m) of total ascent.

Sunday 22nd December. NORTH GOWER
(Joint with Swansea Ramblers)
Meet at 9:30am Gowerton: Car park near the Commercial (GR SS 591 964).
We join the coast path toward Penclawdd, up through the Wern and across the lovely Morlais Valley to Cilonnen where we pick up the Gower Way.  We follow it through Three Crosses toward Dunvant and back to the start.  A varied walk with a few ups and downs and views across the Loughor, the salt marshes and pleasant hinterland.  No Christmas shopping in sight! A moderate 10 mile walk.

Saturday 4th January. GOWER COAST PATH 5: LANDIMORE TO CWM IVY
Meet 10:00 am at Cwm Ivy Car Park (SA3 1DE, SS 4396 9351).  A circular walk from Cwm Ivy to Landimore passing Llanmadoc Hill, Ryer’s Down and the Cheriton Valley before joining the coast path and returning through Cwm Ivy Woods.  Part 5 of a series of 17 walks around the entire Gower section of Wales Coast Path.  A moderate 5.5 mile walk with approximately 1000ft of total ascent, returning by 2:30pm.

Meet at 10:00 am at the N.T  CP at Rhossili (charge for non-members)for a 6 mile moderate walk to Hillend  along the ridge of Rhossili Down.  We will return via the Rectory Path.to Rhossili for refreshments.  We will use a gradual ascent and  descent to avoid injuries!

Saturday 18th January. PENNYHITCH
Meet at 10:00 am at the gates to the Gower Show ground (opposite Penrice Home Farm) for approximately 4.5 miles circular walk to Oxwich via Pennyhitch and Penrice Church returning along the Marsh road, the Towers and Perriswood. It’s “on road” all the way with no muddy patches. The details are taken from “Ten Walks In Gower” by Stephen Lee, one of the Society’s founders.

Saturday 8th February. CWM CLYDACH
Meet at 10:30 am at the car park for Cwm Clydach RSPB reserve, Lone Road, Clydach SA6 5SU (Grid Ref. SN 682 026).  The walk explores the wooded valley of Cwm Clydach, and the surrounding upland pastures.  We will pass the remote Gellionnen Chapel, the oldest nonconformist chapel in the area.  The walk will be approximately 5 miles.

Sunday 9th February. TAF FECHAN SKYLINE

Meet at 9:00am between Guildhall and Victoria Park (GR SS 643 923) or 10:00am Brecon Beacons: Neuadd Forestry Commission Car Park (GR SO 037 169).
This circular walk along the Taf Fechan skyline encompasses the summits of Cribyn, Pen Y Fan and Corn Du, plus a fine escarpment above the Taf Fechan Valley A strenuous 9 mile walk.

Sunday 23rd February. LLANDEILO TO LLANGADOG
(Joint with Swansea Ramblers)
Meet at 9:15am Llandeilo Station Car Park (GR SN 633 226).
From Llandeilo we use lanes and paths, passing near Carreg Cennen Castle, then join the Beacons Way to the Garn Goch Iron Age fort. We descend to Llangadog for a meal at the Goose and Cuckoo (but check with the leader first). The last train is 7p.m. so this walk will not be a stroll. Bring money, bus pass and dry clothes if rain is likely. A strenuous 12.5 mile walk with approximately 1400ft (427m) of total ascent.

Saturday 29th February. LLANDOVERY AND MYDDFAI
Catch the Heart of Wales train from Swansea at 9:15am or Gowerton at 9:26am (later stations could be busy. We hope that concessionary travel on the train will continue so bring your bus pass. For those without a pass, groups of 4 or more can buy a group day return).  A moderate 7 mile walk from Llandovery through woodlands and valleys to Myddfai where hot drinks can be bought – but bring a packed lunch.  Return by a different route in time for tea at the Llandovery Station café and the 4:36pm train home.  Check train details nearer the date but don’t use the Heart of Wales website, it is often out of date.

Meet at 9:30am Reynoldston: Park on the road to the Post Office, north of the King Arthur (GR SS 482 901).
Taking in Cefn Bryn, Ryers Down, Llanmadoc Hill, Hardings Down and Rhossili Down. No climbing ropes needed but lots of mild ups and downs! A strenuous 13 mile walk.
