Saturday 29th June. CEFN BRYN AND PENMAEN BURROWS
Meet at 10:00am Penmaen Rose Cottage Car Park (SA3 2HH, SS 5260 8845); additional parking opposite at Penmaen Car Park (SA3 2HH, SS 5269 8848) if required.  A walk over the eastern spine of Cefn Bryn, down through Crawley Woods and around the cliffs to Penmaen Burrows.  Spectacular views of Three Cliffs and Oxwich bays and chance to visit a neolithic chambered tomb and medieval castle ringwork.  A moderate 5 mile walk with approximately 1100ft of total ascent, returning by 2:00pm.

Sunday 30th June. MYNYDD ABERYSGIR, BRECON
Meet at 8:30am between Guildhall and Victoria Park (GR SS 643 924) or 9:45am Brecon: Fenni-Fach Road: Promenade car park (charge £3.20) LD3 9LL (GR SO 037 290). (Leaders will meet and greet at Brecon.)
We’ll head west along the bank of the River Usk, passing Cicucium Roman Fort and Mynydd Aberysgir before returning via Sarnau and Pen-y-crug Hill Fort. A strenuous 13 mile walk.

Sunday  30th June. NORTH GOWER AND ITS ANCIENT PAST.

Description: Up Llanmadoc Hill to the Bulwarks Hill-Fort (longish but not steep climb), then via Llanmadoc, around Whiteford Point to Cheriton and the Stembridge Valley. Over Ryer’s Down (short steep ascent) and across fields back to the meeting place – many stiles.
Directions:  Tankeylake is on the North Gower Road (B4295) about ½ mile before Llangennith, with Llanmadoc Hill to the north and Harding’s Down to the south.

July

Saturday 13th July. CILIFOR, LLANRHIDIAN AND CEFN BRYN
Meet at 10:00am at lay-by west of Cilibion (GR SS 515913) for a 7.5 mile walk in north Gower.  We will ascend the old hill fort of Cilifor – with excellent views, descend to Llanrhidian then up to Arthur`s Stone before a stroll along Cefn Bryn returning past Broadpool.

Saturday 20th July. RHOSSILI DOWN FROM TANKEYLAKE
Meet at 10:30am at Tankeylake (GR SS 435 916) for a 6 mile moderate walk.  We skirt Hardings Down and join the Gower Way via White Moor and Sluxton to Fernhill Farm.  Then a steep climb up to Rhossili Down and continue to Coety Green and Llangennith.

Saturday 27th July. BISHOPSTON AND CASWELL VALLEYS
Meet 10:00am at Murton Community Centre (SA3 3AT, SS 5863 8920).  A walk through Bishopston and Caswell Valleys passing Pwlldu, Brandy Cove and Caswell Beaches on the Wales Coast Path.  If the weather permits to include a stretch of stream bed.  Historic features include silver/lead mines, remains of a medieval chapel and holy well, a number of limestone caves and ancient woodland.  A moderate 6 mile walk with approximately 1100ft of total ascent, returning by 2:30pm.

Sunday 28th July. FAN HIR
(Joint with Swansea Ramblers)
Meet at 9:00am between Guildhall and Victoria Park (GR SS 643 923) or 9:45am Glantawe; side road leading to the Gwyn Arms (GR SN 844 163).
A 15.5km walk across open moorland towards Sinc Giedd avoiding the sink holes. Follow the Afan Giedd and ascend to the Fan Hir ridge. Return via the Beacons Way. A strenuous 10 mile walk with approximately 2300ft (700m) of total ascent.

Saturday 3rd August.PYLE CIRCULAR
Meet at 9:30am at Pyle Corner post office (map ref SS 580 882). A walk via Backingstone Lane (or parallel with) – Bishopston Valley floor, Hael Lane – Southgate cliffs and Three Cliffs Cafe – cliffs again – Pwlldu Head – Pwlldu – Pwlldu Lane – Pyle Corner, four and a half hours. Muddy under foot.

Sunday 11th August. CEFN CRIBWR, PASSING MERTHYR MAWR
(Joint with Swansea Ramblers)
Meet at 9:00am between Guildhall and Victoria Park (GR SS 643 923) or 9:45am Cefn Cribwr: Athletic Club Car Park (GR SS 862 826).
We’ll pass Court Coleman, Laleston, Merthyr Mawr and Tythegston. After the walk we’ll go for refreshments in the club House. A moderate 12 mile walk.

Saturday 17th August. PENNARD CLIFFS AND CASTLE
Meet at 10:45am at Pennard School/Library car park, GR SS 554 883 for 8 mile moderate walk.  
It is possible to travel by Nr 14 bus from Swansea (9.49am from bus station) – due to arrive at 10.30am, but please check timetable nearer the date.  A scenic stroll along Pennard Cliffs, stopping at Pobbles beach and Pennard castle.  Then onto Penmaen Church, Green Cwm and Parkmill.  There are two steep climbs but the views are worth it.

Sunday 25th August. TWO REMOTE LAKES
(Joint with Swansea Ramblers)
Meet at 8:30am between Guildhall and Victoria Park (GR SS 643 923) or 9:30am Upper Swansea Valley: Minor road, south of Gwyn Arms SA9 1GP (GR SN 846 165).
A steep climb out of Glyntawe to Waun Fignen Felin and on to Bwlch Giedd. Then follow the ridge above the lakes before descending to Llyn y Fan Fach and returning along the Beacons Way below the Carmarthen Fans. A strenuous 15 mile walk.

Saturday 31st August. HORTON AND PORT-EYNON
Meet 10:00am at Horton Bay Car Park (SA3 1LQ, SS 4737 8558). A walk out to Port-Eynon Point, around the coast to Overton and over the back of Port-Eynon to West Slade and Horton. Points of interest include a walled sea cave, the Gower Society commemorative monument to Gwent Jones and Stephen Lee and numerous examples of Gower stiles. A moderate 5 mile walk with approximately 700ft of total ascent, returning by 2:00pm.

Saturday 7th September. TENNANT & NEATH CANALS
Meet at 10:30 am at the bandstand in the middle of Victoria Park, Neath. Suggest parking in the multi-storey car park on Prince of Wales Road (adjoining SA11 3QZ) a short walk from Victoria Park. We will walk through Neath town centre to join the Tennant canal towpath, and follow the canal up to the Aberdulais basin, an area that was a hive of activity at the time of the industrial revolution. From Aberdulais our walk will follow the Neath canal along a pleasant rural route, passing Clyne and going on to the Resolven basin. At Resolven we can catch the X55 (Glynneath – Neath – Swansea) bus to return to our starting point in Neath. If you have a bus pass please remember to bring it with you. The walk will be approximately 7 miles.

Saturday 21st September. PARKMILL AND LUNNON
Meet 10:00am Green Cwm: Parkwood Car Park (SA3 2EH, SS 5383 8961).  A walk up to Nothill to enjoy the views over Three Cliffs bay then around Cefn Bryn and through Parkwood before heading up to Lunnon and returning though Parkmill.  Historic features include a Neolithic burial chamber and a cave thought to contain the oldest rock art in the British Isles. A moderate 6 mile walk with approximately 900ft of total ascent returning by 2:00pm.

Sunday 29th September. RHOSSILI CIRCULAR

Meet at 9:30am Rhossili: NT Car Park (charge) (GR SS 414 880).
This 17.5km walk will skirt the Downs and cross fields to Hardings Down. We’ll continue to the Bulwark and down to Cwm Ivy. Our return will be via the dunes to Broughton and on to Rhossili Down. A strenuous 11 mile walk with approximately 1969ft (600m) of total ascent.
