Friday 13th September. AN EVENING TALK by Andrew Dulley

Andrew Dulley, Assistant County Archivist, West Glamorgan Archive Service, will give a talk on William Crach: the man who lived. The true story of a Welsh rebel from Llanrhidian who joined in the rebellion of Rhys ap Maredudd in 1287. He was arrested and hanged, but came back to life…we’ve discovered the evidence in a subsequent investigation, which tells us a good deal about what life was like in medieval Gower.

Saturday 19th October PUBLICATIONS MORNING

Two publications will be launched this morning: an extended edition of the Gower Society’s journal, Gower 70, and a new edition of A Pocket Guide to Gower. Come and pick up your copy of the journal and purchase extra copies as gifts for your friends and neighbours.
The event will take place at 10:30am in Sketty Parish Centre.  Coffee and tea will be available.

Friday 25th October AN EVENING TALK 

Barry Stewart of Celtic Wildflowers will give a talk on Wildflower Conservation in Gower. He will highlight some of Gower’s special flora and fauna and talk about some on-going projects on Gower, partly funded by the Gower Society.

Friday 29th November AN EVENING TALK by Professor Siwan Davies and Elin Rhys

Siwan Davies (Swansea University) and Elin Rhys (Telesgop production company) will give a talk on Climate Challenge.  They will present their journey to film a television series depicting the real-life stories of communities facing the climate emergency.  The series follows Siwan from her laboratory at Swansea University to meet the people of Greenland, the Maldives, Uganda and California that are already feeling the effects of climate change.

Friday 31st January AN EVENING TALK by Gary Gregor

Gary Gregor will give a talk entitled The Welshman with Captain Scott.  Edgar Evans of Rhossili accompanied Captain Scott on two Antarctic expeditions, and was an integral member of the team who reached the South Pole in January 1912: might the four brave Englishmen have survived if he had not collapsed?
